The COVID-19 Legacy Response: A Beacon of Hope in Ukraine
In the heart of the pandemic’s challenge, the unwavering support from our compassionate community shone brighter than ever. Through our collaborative spirit, empowered by heartfelt contributions from our community and a pivotal grant from the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston, we successfully dispatched eighteen critical shipments. These weren’t merely boxes but heartfelt assurances packed with essentials – gloves, medicine, nourishing food, and personal care items.
In the profound solitude experienced by our beloved Adopt-a-Bubbe/Zayde program participants, the tangible expressions of love and solidarity from the Boston community, personally delivered by our devoted Community Care Coordinators, have been lifelines, sparking glimmers of hope and resilience amidst isolation.
Nurturing Connections and Extending Resources Amidst the COVID-19 Crisis
In the midst of unprecedented times, Action for Post-Soviet Jewry (APSJ) steadfastly persisted in its mission, albeit with necessary adaptations for safety and wellness. When our physical office was temporarily closed, our resolve to assist and connect with the communities we serve in Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus was unwavering.
Though our modus operandi has shifted in response to the evolving realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, our commitment has not waned—in fact, the assistance we provide is poised to intensify.
APSJ, with a dedicated heart, continued to reach the most vulnerable members within each of the communities we serve, mainly through the Adopt-a-Bubbe and Zayde programs. These cherished individuals, identified as highly susceptible to the virus and often living in economically strained multi-generational households, are at the epicenter of our focus and efforts.
Here’s how we are elevating our support to meet the burgeoning needs:
Strengthening Our Bonds, Amplifying Our Support:
- Ensuring Consistent and Compassionate Contact: Every community within APSJ’s embrace has a devoted care coordinator maintaining regular contact with our Adopt-a-Bubbes and Zaydes, ensuring their needs are met and diminishing the pangs of isolation.
- Provisioning Essential Supplies: Every community is provided with boxes of indispensable supplies. Especially in Ukraine, where inflation has surged, these items, even if available, have become exorbitantly priced.
By enveloping our communities with steadfast support and resources, APSJ stands as a pillar of strength and unity, mitigating the hardships encountered in these trying times and ensuring that the thread of connection and care remains unbroken.
Your support fortifies our ability to extend this vital assistance and solidarity.
To be a part of this endeavor, consider supporting our mission.
