Shining Light in Ukraine
Shining Light in Ukraine: Your Impact:
This year, amidst the challenges of war, your generosity has transformed lives across Ukraine. Together, we have provided essential humanitarian aid, physical and mental health support, and a sense of dignity and hope to some of the most vulnerable people in dire circumstances. Here are just a few highlights of the impact you have made possible:
Humanitarian Aid Delivery
30 tons of aid shipped: Ensuring that essential supplies reached those in need to sustain basic human needs.
Direct support to 3,000 individuals: Enhancing daily lives while addressing those who fall into the aid gap.
Collaborative Needs Assessment
Coordinators worked closely with individuals to identify specific material and financial needs, creating tailored support approaches to sustain basic human dignity.
Emergency Financial Assistance
Immediate aid was provided to help families in critical situations, offering a financial safety net for those in urgent need.
Sustained Microgrant Support
220 individuals supported monthly: Microgrants provided financial stability and helped recipients address basic needs.
Over $170,500 invested: Through the Microgrant Stipend Program, we’ve empowered lives and created sustainable impact over 30 months.
Measuring Success Through Client Voices
The true measure of success lies in the stories of those whose lives you’ve touched.
Here are a few testimonials from Ukraine that highlight the profound difference your support has made:
“A week ago, I informed my clients that they would receive help. But today, an excited lady calls me: ‘The help has arrived! I didn’t know, I didn’t expect it. There wasn’t enough money to buy all the medicines my doctor prescribed, so I decided to buy only some. When I went to the pharmacy, I received an SMS about the payment of money! God sent this through you! Thank you!” — Alice Mariupol
“Thanks to these projects, I finally began to feel that I was part of a friendly family, and they took care of me. During the period when there was no electricity for many hours, I had the opportunity to eat normal, warm food thanks to the container you sent me. I am very grateful for the multitude of aid I have received. Thank you for making me feel cared for and supported.” — M.S. Mariupol
“Thank you very much. I wish you with all my heart health, spiritual success in your noble deeds, and happiness in life.” — Vera Mi
These heartfelt messages remind us that the work we do together is not just about material support but about restoring hope, dignity, and connection.
Lighting the Way Forward
While the challenges in Ukraine remain immense, your generosity continues to provide sparks of light and hope. From telehealth visits to microgrants and mental health days, your support is a lifeline for elderly Jews in Ukraine—those who live sitting on packed suitcases, unsure of what tomorrow will bring.
One coordinator described it this way:
“Our elderly live sitting on packed suitcases, not knowing what might happen. When I call, they are always crying. There are constant air raids, and they can hear and feel the missiles. The blackouts of power are long and unpredictable. They are in constant worry and anxiety.”
Yet, thanks to your generosity, these individuals are reminded that they are part of a larger Jewish community that sees them, cares for them, and stands with them.
A Ripple of Hope
As we light the Hanukkah candles this season, may we also kindle hope in the hearts of those who need it most. Your continued support provides life-saving aid and reminds our elders in Ukraine that they are not alone. When you save one life, it is as if you save the world. And sometimes, when you impact one life, you change their entire world.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to bringing light in the darkest times.
Together, we can continue to shine hope and dignity across Ukraine.
