Processing everything we experienced during our recent mission to Israel has taken some time. One of the highlights of the journey was spending time with Ella Goncharova, Action-PSJ’s Director in Ukraine. The last time we saw each other in person was in November 2019. At that time, Ella was not yet involved with Action-PSJ, COVID-19 was unheard of, an all-out war between Russia and Ukraine was unimaginable, and Zelensky’s presidency was just beginning to take shape. The terror attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7th and the ongoing war have profoundly impacted our work. In just four and a half years, the world has changed in unprecedented and unimaginable ways, leaving us without adequate words to express the layers of trauma, grief, uncertainty, and vulnerability that have affected the work and lives of the people and communities Action-PSJ serves.
I am sharing a link to my blog post in the Times of Israel.
There continues to be much work to be done and many ways we can support each other, even across three countries. Thank you for your continuous support. As Russia intensifies its attacks on Ukraine, our work together is becoming increasingly important. This is the crucial lesson we’ve learned: no matter how difficult the situation or what challenges we face, we are all responsible for each other. We must do everything we can to keep each other supported and not isolated during these very conflicted times.
