Expressing Gratitude for Your Generous Support in Honoring Judy's Lifelong Mission
With heartfelt thanks, we cherish every gift honoring Judy’s legacy at Action for Post-Soviet Jewry. Your generous support beautifully extends her mission, weaving a future of compassion and a vibrant community for elderly Jews in post-Soviet states.
1975 → 1990
In this critical 15-year span, “Action for Soviet Jewry” stood as a bulwark against oppression. With unwavering dedication, we championed the rights of “refusniks” and “prisoners of conscience,” individuals who faced persecution for their religious beliefs or desire to emigrate. As countless Jews in the Soviet Union yearned for religious freedom, human rights, and the ability to connect with their Jewish roots without fear, we worked tirelessly. Advocating, lobbying, and amplifying their voices, we endeavored to illuminate their plight on the world stage and bring about tangible change in a politically complex and tumultuous period.
1991 → 2020
Transitioning to “Action for Post-Soviet Jewry,” the subsequent three decades saw our organization pivot to address the multifaceted challenges of post-Soviet Jewish communities. Our mandate expanded to reconstruct the fractured lives of Jews in the former Soviet territories. With a profound emphasis on community welfare, we are committed to taking care of the vulnerable—especially the elderly and isolated. Throughout this period, our adaptability and resilience were repeatedly tested, especially as we responded to significant global events. From the geopolitical upheaval triggered by Russia’s annexation of Crimea to the unprecedented challenges brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic, our organization remained steadfast, evolving, and ever-present.
