Action-PSJ - A story of Hope & Resilience
Amidst the devastating war in Ukraine, Action-PSJ stands as a lifeline, providing vital support, financial aid, and compassion to thousands of vulnerable pensioners as they struggle to survive and maintain their dignity.
Direct Community Support Initiatives
Through Direct Community Support Initiatives, Action-PSJ can directly assist vulnerable Jews in Ukraine with essential aid, including food, clothing, medical aid, and Jewish connection points. With a person-to-person approach, we ensure that those in need receive compassionate support to help them endure the challenges of daily life.
Tzedakah Sustenance
Adopt a Bubbe - Zayde
This program is dedicated to nourishing and caring for Jewish Bubbes and Zaydes, ensuring sustenance, well-being, and dignity for those who have nurtured the Jewish community. Through “Tzedakah Sustenance,” Action-PSJ’s coordinators, who intimately know their Jewish communities, identify the most vulnerable Jewish retirees in need of help. Many of these elders live on their own, facing challenging living conditions, and some are unable to leave their homes. With the support of generous donors, a $360 donation can provide monthly food packages for one Bubbe or Zayde for an entire year.
These personalized food packages are thoughtfully curated to include fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese, and meats, delivered directly to their homes. Additionally, when needed, we extend our support to other essentials, such as eyeglasses, hearing aids, reading lamps, and even coal, for warmth during the harsh winter months.
By contributing to “Tzedakah Sustenance,” you become a lifeline for these cherished elders, ensuring they receive the nourishment, care, and respect they deserve. Join us in honoring the legacy of these remarkable individuals and providing them with the support they need to thrive.
Telehealth Program
Provide the Elderly with Accessible Healthcare
Our Telehealth Program connects elderly individuals in need with accessible healthcare through remote consultations via the Internet or phone, facilitated by our dedicated team of Community Coordinators and the Jewish Medical Center of Dnipro. Currently piloted in three communities within the Dnipro Oblast, we aim to serve up to 50 elders in the first year. Our program ensures convenient scheduling, paperwork assistance, and comprehensive care, providing essential support to enhance the well-being of our cherished elders through remote consultations, outpatient surgery facilitation, and short-term rehab stays.
Humanitarian Aid
Personalize Aid to Meet Demand
Introducing Action-PSJ’s Humanitarian Aid Program, which transcends standardized assistance, embodying a personalized approach to meet individual needs. Our community coordinators diligently gather data from their respective communities, updating the Amazon Wishlist in accordance with their current essential requirements. This comprehensive list comprises essential items such as canned food, medication, blood pressure monitors, multivitamin supplements, and other crucial necessities. Donors can profoundly impact the lives of those we serve by selecting and purchasing these specific survival items, thereby ensuring direct and tailored support for vulnerable individuals. Furthermore, we offer the flexibility for supporters to procure items from alternate sources and send them to Action-PSJ’s address, enhancing the scope of our outreach.
Jewish Heritage Initiative
Fund Educational Programs
Action-PSJ’s Jewish Heritage Initiative fosters a vibrant, thriving, and safe global Jewish community through updates on Jewish life, combating antisemitism, sharing educational resources, and fostering connections in the FSU. Your donation to the educational fund enables Action-PSJ to provide essential resources, sponsor learning programs, and monitor and report on antisemitic incidents, ensuring the rich history of Jewish Ukraine remains alive and relevant in today’s world.
Warm Home Gatherings
Host Warm Home Gatherings
Action-PSJ’s Warm Home Gatherings initiative brings hosts and their friends together to shop and prepare hot, home-cooked meals for 12 guests in neighborhood apartments. With a donation of $50, Action-PSJ can provide the food needed for one warm meal, enabling guests to meet monthly or on major Jewish and secular holidays to enjoy a nutritious meal they could not afford otherwise. These gatherings serve as the only organized Jewish event in some communities, fostering close-knit groups that support one another in sickness and health. Presently, Action-PSJ supports 10 Warm Houses in Eastern Ukraine, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all attendees.
