Dear Friends,
As we celebrate Hanukkah, we reflect on the meaning of light and its power to dispel darkness. Last night, on the fifth night of Hanukkah, the light from our menorahs surpassed the darkness for the first time. This powerful symbolism reminds us of the impact we can make when we come together to brighten the lives of others.
This year, the sixth night of Hanukkah—known as the Ner Shel Tzedakah (Candle of Righteousness)—falls on December 30th. Just in time for year-end giving. It is a special tradition for families to dedicate this night to acts of generosity and learning about poverty. By donating the value of gifts or the gifts themselves, we illuminate the lives of those in need and carry the Jewish value of tzedakah into action.
Your support makes a meaningful difference. This year, your donations have helped us deliver food, medicine, and companionship to elderly individuals in Ukraine, bringing warmth and light to those who might otherwise face this winter alone.
With just days left in the year, there’s still time to join this effort. Your year-end gift helps those in, need and may be tax-deductible for 2024.
This Hanukkah, let’s brighten their world together. Don’t let the light go out.
From all of us at Action for Post-Soviet Jewry, we wish you a Happy Hanukkah, a peaceful New Year, and a joyful holiday season for all you celebrate.
