As uncertainty in Ukraine continues to grow, I want to share how YOU are making a concrete, positive difference in the lives of the most vulnerable. Your support is transforming lives, giving hope, and providing essential care to those who need it most.<\/p>

Since the war began, your generosity has enabled us to help Ukraine\u2019s most at-risk elders\u2014those who fall into the “aid gap” and have limited access to support. Each year of this war, you have made it possible for us to pivot and adapt to new challenges, ensuring that our elders can persevere through unimaginable hardships.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Our Newest Project: In-Person Health Days<\/strong><\/p>

At the war’s onset, you helped us provide food, medicine, and essential hygiene items for the elderly. Your support made it possible to supply incontinent care products that not only preserved health but also dignity. Then, through your continued help, we successfully launched our telehealth program. This allows the most isolated individuals, cut off from medical care, to receive life-saving consultations from esteemed doctors at the Dnipro Jewish Medical Center.<\/p>

Now, we\u2019re thrilled to share with you our latest milestone: the first in-person, community-based Health Day program since COVID. Spearheaded by our dedicated Director in Ukraine, Ella Gonchorova, and designed in partnership with our local collaborators, this program brings elderly individuals from the surrounding villages to Dnipro for a day of community, culture, and medical support.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

A Transformative Day in Dnipro<\/strong><\/p>

Many of\u00a0 elderly hadn\u2019t left their homes in months, or even years. Ella envisioned a day where they could travel to Dnipro, visit the Menorah Center\u2014the world\u2019s largest Jewish community center\u2014enjoy a kosher lunch, tour the synagogue and museum, and experience the vibrant Jewish life that is growing there. And alongside this, they\u2019d receive critical medical and mental health care.<\/p>

Our first groups came from Pavlograd, and Novomoskovsk\u00a0 communities that are faced with relentless missile attacks and immense suffering. This visit was not only a break from the hardship but a reminder of resilience, culture, and community.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Comprehensive Medical and Emotional Support<\/strong><\/p>

In partnership with the Dnipro Jewish Medical Center, physicians\u2014including dermatologists, ophthalmologists, and lab technicians\u2014volunteered to come in on a Sunday to offer thorough check-ups. Already, one elder was diagnosed with early-stage skin cancer, which will now be treated, and others received timely interventions for various health conditions.<\/p>

Alongside medical care, through our partnership with Or Shalom,\u00a0 participants engaged in art therapy workshops and learned stress management techniques, all designed to promote mental well-being. They\u2019 are now eligible for follow-up psychiatric consultations as needed. The day also included a nutritious lunch and snacks to nurture both body and spirit.<\/p>

Rediscovering Jewish Identity and Community<\/strong><\/p>

For many participants, visiting the Menorah Center and seeing the Rose Synagogue was deeply moving. Some touched a Torah for the first time in their lives, connecting with a part of their heritage they thought was lost. In a place where war has cast long shadows, the beauty and openness of this Jewish community center brought an infusion of hope.<\/p>
