Lilia R. Kirovograd
Thanks to your generosity, you help elders like Lilia combat isolation, lonlineless, heat insecurity and many more devastating effects of this horrific war and provide hope.
The war in 2022 started with a phone call from her daughter:
“Mom, we’re being bombed.”
From that moment on, she lost peace. She panicked – what to do, where to escape to. Air alerts were howling constantly, and the sound made her feel dizzy. But at a certain point, she made a decision to stay where she was. All her relatives are buried here, and since she is 82 years old, she won’t go anywhere. She made a shelter in the corridor and was hiding there. The real shelter is far away, and her apartment is on the fourth floor. So, during air raids, she hides in the corridor.
Currently, she feels herself in bigger danger and is more scared of massive missile attacks than she was at the beginning of the war. It was especially scary during last winter power outages to sit in a dark corridor alone, listening to the sound of air raids.
She is very grateful to the for a power bank and a lamp. They saved her and helped her get through terrible times.
I am immensely grateful that you don’t forget about us during the war and all the horrors happening around us. This is priceless. People call, ask what kind of help is needed, and ask me about my health. Support makes a difference. I am moved that the help arrives from afar—from the US! Going through such a tough time, I am grateful that the project supports me with gifts and money for medication. L.R.
